Budget cuts protest

📢 FNV and other organisations are organising a protest on 14 November at 13:00 in Utrecht against the budget costs in higher education.

Slow Study Fine 💶
With this measure, students who have a delay longer than a year during their full-time Bachelor’s or Master’s degree have to pay a fine of €3000,- on top of their tuition fee.

Student grant 💶
This September, the student grant was lowered with €164,30 as the temporary measure for spending power ran out. According to calculations of Nibud, students’ spending power will decrease by 6,6% in 2025. In real terms this means that students will have €113,- less to spend each month.

More expensive study books 💶
Books will be more expensive as the VAT on books will increase from 9% to 21%.

💶 Universities will lose 10-20% of their budget
💶 Certain courses and programmes will be cut
💶 Entering the work force will be more difficult
